Driving delight at Ocado's Driver of the Year event 2019
An outstanding event, full of fast cars, skid cars, vans, lorries and of course our own tricky LGV reversing manoeuvre.
Driver Require's annual sponsorship of Ocado's Driver of the Year event was once again an outstanding event, full of fast cars, skid cars, vans, lorries and of course our tricky LGV reversing manoeuvre.
After a damp start the annual event, held by Ocado to celebrate their safest, best drivers of the year was up and running. The Driver Require team this year was made up of CEO, Kieran Smith, Ocado Account Manager, Kerry Gevaux, Marketing Manager, Sarah Fowke and our very own LGV hero and RC expert, Ian Datlen. We were all lucky enough to be treated to some serious driving thrills, including a ride in a Tesla Model S reaching 60mph in just 4.5 seconds!
We nominated Adam Serafin from our Ocado Andover team as our LGV Driver of the Year for his loyalty, flexibility, friendliness and for being not only a superb Class 1 driver, but also a great representative of the company.
Adam had a fantastic day taking part in all of the activities laid on by Ocado, including driving some vintage, American hero, film star and exotic and incredibly fast cars around Donnington Race Track. Other activities included trying to control the skid car around a wet course, driving a Class 1 lorry, parking the all-new electric delivery van into a very tight space and much more.
Our own activity challenged the best of Ocado's drivers to reverse manoeuvre a to-scale replica Class One lorry into a narrow parking bay. Our winner was Andrew Bostwick from Sheffield who did it brilliantly in a time of 32 seconds. Andrew took home a £150 Amazon Gift Voucher.
