Ocado Driver of the Year 2023

There were gloomy skies, the rain was pouring down, but nothing could dampen the buzz at Ocado’s Driver of the Year convention. We were proud to sponsor the event for the 5th year running and be involved in a day celebrating Ocado’s safest, best drivers. A day jam packed with adrenaline on the race track, and driving related activities in the paddocks.

When drivers reached our paddock, they faced the challenge of completing a reverse manoeuvre of our replica Class One lorry into a narrow parking bay. Many worthy competitors had a go and with a battle between James and Phil, who kept returning to beat the other’s time, James Edgar came out on top and took home a £200 Amazon voucher. James achieved a record-breaking time of just over 11 seconds, a very impressive 5 seconds quicker than the previous record! We were delighted to receive such positive feedback from the drivers who really enjoyed our activity.

The Driver Require team this year was made up of CEO, Kieran Smith, National Accounts Director, Kerry Gevaux, Marketing Manager, Katy Tyler and Ocado Payroll Administrator, Nathan Humphreys. The team had the opportunity to be driven around the track in an Ariel Atom 3 (pictured above) which boasts a speed of 0-60 in 3-4 seconds, with a top speed of 155mph! It’s safe to say there were some white knuckles after two laps around the track!

We were pleased to nominate George Coman (pictured top middle & top right), as our Agency LGV Driver of the Year. George is very polite, friendly, and an excellent driver - a fantastic representative of the company.

Overall, an excellent day for all involved and one we’re very proud to have been a part of. A huge thank you and well done to the Ocado Team for pulling off such a successful event for another year running. We look forward to next year!
