Speed, skill and a new record set – a brilliant day with Ocado at Donington Park

We were delighted to once again co-sponsor Ocado’s Driver of the Year event, held at Donington Park on 17th October. The annual event recognises Ocado’s safest drivers and rewards them with driving experiences and a day they’ll never forget.

We once again challenged Ocado’s drivers to reverse manoeuvre our replica Class 1 lorry into a tight spot on our stand. This proved to be the most competitive year yet, with many drivers returning time and again to improve on their times and beat their friends and colleagues. We awarded Andrew van Rooyen, Ocado van driver, the prize of a £150 Amazon Gift Voucher for the fastest time on the day – a mere 0.27 seconds.

But we must mention that a new record was set by Scott from Bridgestone Tyres, (co-sponsors of the event), in an astonishing, record-breaking time of just 0.15 seconds!

Driver Require’s nominated Ocado LGV Driver of the Year was Jacek Jackiewicz from our Ocado Hatfield operation. Jack had a brilliant day, taking part in and making the most of every activity on offer.

With thrills a-plenty, our operations director Gwynne Lewis fulfilled a long-standing wish to drive a Class 1 vehicle around the Melbourne Loop, while the rest the team, Kieran Smith, Sarah Fowke and Ian Datlen pushed some serious super cars, including a Maclaren, a Lamborghini and a Nissan GT-R around the race track.
