Yorkshire 3 Peaks: Mission Accomplished
Team Driver Require Completes Epic 25 Mile Hike for Cancer Research
We made it! It was one tough challenge but after 10 hours and 45 mins, 24.6 miles covered, 10,000ft combined ascent & descent, sweat and determination, the Yorkshire 3 peaks were conquered by Team Driver Require on Saturday 14th September.
Our day started and ended in perfect conditions, clear, fine, mild weather and stunning views of the Yorkshire Dales. After an early start and at a blistering pace, we reached at the top of the first peak, Pen Y Ghent, in just 45 minutes. From there it was another 6 hours of solid hiking through stunning countryside, until we reached the next summit: Whernside. We slogged on, trudged down and headed towards the next peak, Ingleborough, which presented us with an exceptionally steep and tricky ascent. We eventually flew our flag for the third and final time before heading down at a flying pace to stop the clock at 18:30, ten hours and 45 minutes after we embarked on the challenge having covered a total of just over 40 km (25 miles).
As a team, we are so proud to have smashed our target of completing the mission in under 12 hours, and in doing so, we have raised an incredible £1,853.00 for Cancer Research UK.
