To all our loyal drivers,

As we head towards the close of what has been another challenging year, we’d like to take a moment, on behalf of the entire Driver Require team, to thank you for all your hard work, loyalty and support throughout 2021 and to recognise the incredible job you do for us and for our clients, much of which goes unacknowledged and unsaid. 

Like 2020, this last year has been full of enormous challenges, not least with the continuing impact of COVID-19 and the emergence of new variants, the roll-out of IR35, the UK’s driver shortage and the panic at the pumps. But you, our amazing drivers, have stepped up. We’ve received so many fantastic reports from our clients about our drivers who go above and Beyond the Extra Mile, your reliability, flexibility, can-do attitudes and determination not to let the side down. We salute you and the tremendous job you do, often in extremely difficult circumstances.

2021 has been a significant year for us as a business. We have played a key role in helping to bring the nation’s attention to the driver shortage crisis, starting with the publication of our Reports on the subject, resulting in national TV and radio coverage. We were recently invited to give evidence at the House of Commons Transport Committee (a committee set up to examine the challenges facing the road freight supply chain), which we hope will result in action by the government and the haulage sector to redress critical issues such as the lack of adequate roadside facilities for drivers and the need to examine the effectiveness of the relaxation of driver’s hours as well as the medical renewals issue, reform of driver’s CPC and working time regulations. 

2021 also marks our 20th Anniversary year, and back in October, we took a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come. But one thing hasn’t changed over the last 20 years - we’re still dedicated to being the best driver agency by going beyond the extra mile to serve our drivers and clients. We believe that now, more than ever, drivers can no longer be undervalued, and we intend to continue to shine the spotlight on the need to address the issues that affect you – pay, conditions and respect.

We are expecting 2022 to be a very interesting year, particularly with the continued challenges of Covid on the nation and demand for commercial drivers. We thank you for the truly extraordinary job that you do to keep businesses on the road and supporting us and our clients. We’re proud to have you on our team and we wish you and your families all the best for a healthy, peaceful and prosperous 2022.
